Arthur W. Pink---Predestination---$5.95
Most Pastors and laymen who have read any of the writings of A. W. Pink know that a central plank of his theological system was the doctrine of predestination. From early pages on his first book through the final pages of his last book, A. W. Pink never evaded the issues nor minced words as he spoke and wrote on this subject. In his day and age, when the subject was unpopular and hated by even many believers, he spoke his convictions through his pen. And now in a day and age when the subject is more acceptable, he continues to speak through his pen, and perhaps is a large part of the reason for the revival of what is known as the doctrines of grace.

Richard Belcher in this work tabulates and systematizes Pink's views on predestination. Beginning with Pink's general definition of predestination as a foundation, Dr. Belcher then sets forth Pink's strong views of election and reprobation. This work closes with a comparison of Pink's views to the Philadelphia Baptist Confession of Faith, followed by an analysis and critique by Dr. Belcher of the Pink view in this important doctrinal area.

 pinkborn2wri A Biography

This work originally appeared in 1982 and was the first biography of A.W. Pink available in the United States. It quickly went through the first edition. The author has wanted to present a second edition, but several factors have kept him from doing so. For one thing, his time has been invested in ministry and in the production of other books. For another, Ian Murray's biography of Pink was available soon after the first edition.

Why then a second edition at this time? New documents in the form of two sets of letters of Pink became available to the author. These are letters Pink wrote to I.C. Herendeen, his publisher. One set comes from the period of his pastorate in Spartanburg, SC. from 1917-1920. The other covers the period of 1920 to 1921, when he was engaged in itinerant ministry mostly on the west coast. The letters not only open up for us these years of his life, but also they reveal the man himself in a manner found in none of his other writings.

Another reason for this second edition is that the author and many others continue to be intrigued by Mr. Pink. The life of any great Christian is interesting, but there is a special uniqueness about Pink. Mystery continues to surround him as one notes his life, his personality, his many moves, his many disappointments, his rejection by men, his hours of dark despair, and then his final years in isolation in Scotland.

The present work does not seek to excuse the puzzling areas of Pink's life and personality, but the author does try to understand his actions and reactions as the events of his life unfold. The result is not only a presentation of facts and events but an interpretive biography that reveals the man and his heart-beat for the eternal God and His glory.

Arthur W. Pink---Letters of an Itinerant Preacher---$5.95
 lettersofpre 1920-1921

Few men's writings left the impact on the twentieth century church as those from the pen of Arthur W. Pink. Yet the influence of his writings came largely after his death.

Any one familiar with Pink's life knows that he struggled constantly concerning the will of God for his life. Should he Pastor? Should he pursue an itinerant ministry? Should he devote his time fully to ministry through his pen? Or should he seek to combine several of these ministries?

The truth is that he tried all of the above ministries, sometimes with much ambivalence and uncertainty. Finally in his later years he did devote his life fully to a writing ministry, living in virtual seclusion in far-away Stornaway, Scotland on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides until he died in 1952.

The letters of this volume are unique as they represent a time-frame in his life of successful itinerant ministry on the west coast of the United States. They cover a period of his life virtually unknown previously to Pink students and scholars. They were written to Pink's publisher and friend, Mr. I. C. Herendeen of Swengel, PA. They open to us not only Pink's life during this period, but also his heart on numerous doctrinal personal issues.

A thorough index makes the volume not only easy to use to pursue a subject, but extremely interesting just to browse for a few moments.

Any one familiar with Pink's life knows that he struggled constantly concerning the will of God for his life. Should he Pastor? Should he pursue an itinerant ministry? Should he devote his time fully to ministry through his pen? Or should he seek to combine several of these ministries?

The letters of this volume are unique as they detail his life and struggles while pastoring the Northside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC from the years 1917 to 1920. This was the time he wrote his most influential book, The Sovereignty of God, but only with much difficulty and concern as to its reception. During this time he went through a nervous breakdown as he waited for God to show him His will.

The value of these letters is that they show the reader the heart of Pink as he spoke concerning many doctrinal matters and church issues, including leaders of his day.

A thorough index makes the volume not only easy to use to pursue a subject, but extremely interesting just to browse for a few moments.
